Abrasion Resistance

The abrasion resistance of ULTRA III™ UHMW-PE is clearly demonstrated by measuring its loss of volume against other materials. The graph below shows the result of an aluminum oxide slurry abrasion test. Here are the specifications for that test:

• A 2.7" x 1" x 0.25" plaque
• 1750 rpm for 2 hours
• Controlled temperature of 23°C

The results of a sand slurry test are shown in the chart below. Here are the specifications for that test:

• A 1/4" x 1" x 3" plaque
• 1750 rpm for 7 hours
• 50% sand slurry
